The Yindjibarndi people have lived on and cared for their Ngurra for over 50,000 years, maintaining strong laws and customs that continue today. Their connection to Country is recognised by the Federal Court of Australia and extends across approximately 13,000 square kilometres in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
Yindjibarndi Aboriginal Corporation represents the rights and interests of the Yindjibarndi people as the Registered Native Title Body Corporate. Guided by the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, the Yindjibarndi are committed to owning, controlling and developing their Ngurra in ways that support cultural continuity, self determination and long term opportunity.
This approach is grounded in the Three Cs model of Community, Culture and Commercial, which guides decision making and underpins the Yindjibarndi Nation’s vision for the future.

Located within one of Australia’s most heavily industrialised regions, Yindjibarndi Ngurra is well positioned for renewable energy development. More than four years ago, the Yindjibarndi made a deliberate decision to explore clean energy as a pathway to sustainable economic development and regional decarbonisation.
Rather than waiting for development to happen around them, the Yindjibarndi chose to lead. This commitment to leadership and responsibility on Country was the foundation for establishing Yindjibarndi Energy Corporation.
From the outset, the Yindjibarndi were clear that any partner must share their values as well as bring proven capability. After a thorough search, they selected ACEN for its experience in delivering renewable energy projects and its alignment with Yindjibarndi priorities.
"We know that our country is well located for renewable energy development, so we made the decision early to lead. We established a small team and set out to find a partner with the right capabilities and values, which led us to ACEN."
