The Baru Marnda Project is a proposed large‑scale renewable energy development led by Yindjibarndi Energy Corporation, featuring up to 1,050MW of wind generation, supported by a solar array and optional Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).
Located within the Yindjibarndi Native Title Determination Area in Western Australia’s Pilbara region, the project spans land subject to a mix of exclusive, non‑exclusive and extinguished Native Title rights. Baru Marnda is being progressed through staged feasibility investigations, with the final mix of wind, solar and storage to be determined as resource availability, technical design and market conditions are further evaluated.
Recognising its importance to the Pilbara’s clean energy transition, Project Baru Marnda has been granted Strategic Project status by the Western Australian Government. The project is also listed on the Australian Government’s National Renewable Energy Priority List, reflecting its potential to support large‑scale renewable energy generation, decarbonisation of industry and long‑term regional development.
The project is designed as a long‑life renewable energy asset, supporting large‑scale generation while aligning with YEC’s Indigenous‑led development model and long‑term stewardship of Country.
