The project

Project Baru Marnda includes up to ~1050MW wind generation, a solar array, plus an option to include a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The final mix of wind, solar & BESS for Project Baru will be determined as resource and market conditions are further evaluated during the feasibility investigations.

Located within the Yindjibarndi Native Title Determination Area, the project spans land with a mix of exclusive, non-exclusive, and extinguished Native Title rights. Recognised for its strategic importance, Project Baru Marnda has been awarded Strategic Prpject Status and is listed on the Australian Government’s National Renewable Energy Priority List, supporting the national transition to clean energy.

YEC proposes to develop high-voltage, common-user transmission infrastructure, linking Yindjibarndi Ngurra and the western Pilbara region to the North West Interconnected System (NWIS) through the Maitland Strategic Industrial Area, a significant industrial development zone situated approximately 24 km west of Karratha and 39 km south of Dampier Port in Western Australia.
