Project Baru includes a ~300MW wind farm and a ~250MW solar array, with an option to include a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The final mix of wind, solar & BESS for Project Baru will be determined as resource and market conditions are further evaluated during the feasibility investigations.
Project Baru is located within Yindjibarndi Determination Areas, incorporating a mixture of exclusive Native Title, non-exclusive Native Title, and Native Title extinguished land.
YEC proposes to develop high-voltage, common-user transmission infrastructure, linking Yindjibarndi Ngurra and the western Pilbara region to the North West Interconnected System (NWIS) through the Maitland Strategic Industrial Area, a significant industrial development zone situated approximately 24 km west of Karratha and 39 km south of Dampier Port in Western Australia.
