Yindjibarndi Energy Corporation (YEC) is a partnership between Yindjibarndi Aboriginal Corporation (YAC) and international renewable energy company, ACEN Corporation (ACEN).

Formed in 2023, YEC represents one of the largest Indigenous-led renewable energy initiatives in Australia, and seeks to develop, construct and operate renewable energy and storage projects on Yindjibarndi Ngurra (country) in Western Australia’s Pilbara region.

YEC is pursuing up to 3GW in capacity of wind, solar and energy storage projects across an area covering approximately 13,000 km² within the Yindjibarndi Native Title Determination Areas.

Partnership Structure

The partnership between ACEN and the Yindjibarndi has been built on shared values.

With a Board comprising of Yindjibarndi and ACEN Directors, the partnership provides that Yindjibarndi will hold a 25-50% equity in all developed renewable energy projects.

The primary land tenure for each project will always be held by the Yindjibarndi.

As equity owners and the primary tenure holders of the development area, Yindjibarndi people will receive long term revenue from YEC projects.
